Ciao! Pizza & Pasta, located in the Suffolk County city of Chelsea, was awarded spot No. 2 on Yelp’s "All-Time Top Pizza Spots" in the United States and Canada for 2023.
Now, one year on, it appears to be holding steady, still receiving four- and five-star reviews from diners near and far.
Ciao! opened in 2015 and was the neighborhood’s first and only wood-fired pizzeria, setting it apart from nearby restaurants.
With traditional flavors like Margherita and more adventurous options (the eatery’s shrimp pizza features lemon, garlic, and cherry tomatoes alongside its spicy roasted shrimp), Ciao! has something for everyone.
“Since discovering this restaurant, it has quickly become one of our favorites!” wrote Yelp reviewer Kasey H. of Boston.
As someone who proclaimed she was making her way through the whole menu, Kasey described the pizzas at Ciao! as “excellent.”
“The dough is always crispy, aromatic, and chewy in the best way possible,” she wrote, shouting out the Funghi (including homemade ricotta, arugula, truffle oil, and mushrooms) and Salsiccia (with fennel sausage, cherry peppers, pecorino, and oregano) pizzas as her particular favorites.
“Customer service is great, the staff [is] friendly and fun, and nothing beats fresh pizza straight from the oven,” she said. “Hands-down deserving of five stars.”
In addition to their crispy pizza pies, Ciao! also whips up a handful of pasta dishes, each with equally unique and delicious flavor combinations.
Diners can continue their pie streak at dessert with the eatery’s Nutella pizza — their classic crust smothered in strawberries, banana, Nutella, and mint — or stick with the classic tiramisu or cannoli.
“The reviews don't lie — this place is 100 percent as good as everyone says,” Katie E. of Boston said on Yelp.
“I've literally never been disappointed with anything I order here…This place is a must-try.”
